My wife and I have just returned from a weekend at this site. Our thanks to Ewan and others from this forum who gave us some information and tips prior to our visit, much appreciated.

To anyone who has not visited this site could I suggest that it is worth considering. Situated on the A91 near the small village of Blairlogie it is very handy for visiting the many attractions of the area around Stirling. There is a park and ride facility to Stirling less than 10 minutes drive from the site. The site is fairly level with well maintained grounds, plenty of tubs of flowers around and is situated right at the base of the hills, some really nice views from the site. The toilet/shower block was kept clean but perhaps a little on the small side for this busy site. The site seemed very popular with overseas visitors and was fully booked over the weekend with outfits, mainly camper vans stopping on spec, being turned away. Site owners very friendly and helpful, newspapers, milk and rolls could be ordered from reception. A large supermarket is only 10 minutes down the road. The only downsides were the smallish toilets and the noise from the main road if you were unfortunate enough to be parked at that end of the site.

Thanks for the information Robert. This site has appeared in the mag for a few years now, in the top 10 in Scotland, as you'll probably know, but it's always good to get recent, first hand information, especially regarding cleanliness.

I was wondering if you could give me some details about the children's playarea. Is it large or small, what it has, is it near the noisy road and were there any pitches which were directly next to it or could see it from their pitch ?

We're going to try to book up for a weekend soon, but it would be good to know a little more detail before we arrive.

Glad you had a nice time and thanks in advance for any additional information you can give.

Alex.

Alex,

We managed to get away without our grandson for a change and to be honest I did not pay much attention to the play area. I did have a quick look at the area of the site where it was located between rain showers. It is located in the middle of the site approx. two hundred yards from the site entrance. There is a wooden fence around the play area but I couldn't say what exactly was there. I don't know what age your children are but there are no gates at site entrance/exit which is straight onto the A91. Extra vigilance would be needed with smaller children to make sure they didn't wander out on to the road. There are some pitches close to the play area but others are in a different area with the view blocked by a high hedge.

Thanks Robert,

I like the idea of the playarea being 200 yards from the exit and will definitely try to book a pitch close to the playarea or with a view of it at least.

Cheers,

Alex.
