Hi Gumbo

I don't think you need a prescription for the purchase of worming tablets, I might be wrong and wait to be corrected. If you want to know more about the Pet Pharmacy in Derby ask and I will get in touch with the mods and ask them to pass on me email. You will be suprised at how litte they cost! They send all items by second class post and usually arrive within 48 hours of order. Post and packing is included in the prices.

Hi Ann, Until I read your post I didn't know I could get drugs for my dog other than at my vets. I wonder why he didn't tell me?????????? I would be greatfull if you could let me know the details of where you get your pet's drugs.

Mods, can you pass my e-mail to Ann please.

Hi Chrisbee

I wouldn't have known about the free scripts. However, my Cairn Terrier breeder told me about it when her eye problem was diagnosed. I was a bit dubious about dealing with a company via online and postal service. However, this has proved very lucrative over the last 3 years!!! As you can imagine.

Please mods pass on my email address to Chrisbee.

Gumbo, what do you mean by your question 'is it all to do with pet insurance?

I was wondering now that most people have Pet Insurance. Are Vets jacking up the cost of everything they charge for, and just assuming everyone will claim off "The Insurance"

Hi Gumbo

That's what I thought you meant. I'm not sure whether they are jacking the prices up coz of insurance or not. I know each time I've taken one of my animals to the vet, it the vet thinks it's more than a 'one visit will do', they always ask me if the animal is insured.

I would be interested to know what would happen if you took a sick animal in which you owned and say for instance, it needed emergency surgery. The bill came to over

Hi Lisa,

The answer to this is simple - they will put the animal to sleep and then invoice you. I actually asked my vet this (after my german shepherd puppy had to have several x-rays), and he said that it does happen, and the choice is the owner's - either pay for it, or have the animal put down. I was glad I have both my dogs insured! One has gone on to develop a thyroid problem meaning he is on tablets for the rest of his life, and I am very glad the insurance will cover this.
