A 59-year-old woman is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed several times at a holiday caravan site in Lincolnshire.
Police called to Brandy Wharf Farm Caravan Site in Waddingham on Monday night said they were treating the attack as attempted murder.
The woman was taken to Scunthorpe Hospital where she is in a serious but stable condition.
Her car was also stolen and later found abandoned in Corby, Northamptonshire.
'Random attack'
It is believed that some of her personal belongings were stolen along with her red Skoda Octavia car.
Det Insp Suzanne Davies said: "This was a very serious attack and the victim could have lost her life, thankfully she is recovering in hospital and is with her family.
"I have a dedicated team of detectives who worked tirelessly throughout the night, and we are working closely with Northamptonshire Police to arrest the suspect.
"Specially trained search teams will continue with their investigations at the caravan site today. This appears to be a random attack, and thankfully incidents of this nature are very rare in our county."
The victim's son Dale Couch, 34, said in a statement: "Dad passed away last year and this has been a really difficult time for us.
"I just can't believe this has happened. I want to appeal to anyone with information to call the police and help them in any way they can."
Never heard of that sort of thing on a campsite before.
