Hey -

I clicked on the advert at the side of the page here on 'Cover4Caravans' thinking 'What the hell...my insurance isn't up for renewal but hey - let's see what ridiculously huge amount of money it's going to cost me anyhow.'

BUT!!!

Something must be wrong because I paid about £250 last year for my insurance on my brand new Vogue 540 - and this site is offering me new for old for about £70 notes!!

Oo-er missus!

Come renewal time I'll be checking these out, that's for sure!

Just tried a quote for our van & price is about $40 cheaper than CC BUT there new for old quote is only for three years and not ten as is CC's.Big plus point when your van is nine years old!!

Hi, I am covered with Cover4caravans and into my second year with them. They sent through all the small print and it's pretty much exactly the same as the Caravan Club insurance - except Cover4caravans were over

Christopher,

Comparing caravan insurance quotes can be a minefield. I have a 2007 Swift Conqueror insured with the caravan club. It is insured new for old for 10 years for

Just please remember the CC is not an insurance Company, it is a licensed intermediary for a number of recognised Companies, who also trade under other intermediaries. You may find that swopping your insurance does lead to a lower price, and still ironically be with the same insurer. Like everything in this modern world there are discounts, and discounts. Usually the product has a lead in discount, which disappears after a year or so.

I am not stating the CC does not offer a good service, but whether it is better value than others is a matter of choice. Personally I found them blase after getting the business, and very expensive when they should have been on the ball, so i swopped. However, it was not the CC who actually made the errors, namely their associated partner, Devitts, who actually at that time handled the business for them.

But as they say, a customer lost is never regained.

Having worked in the insurance industry all my life I know first hand there are insurers and insurers. Some work on "pay no claims " basis whilst others are still sensible and decent.

The three top dogs at the now defunct Independent Insurance Company plc are in prison for "messing up " claims.

Just be very careful who you choose, read the full policy wording before incepting the policy, Read the various caravan magazines annual assessment of caravan insurance providers, and whatever you do stick religiously to all security requirements, absolutely. If you forget the hitchlock one night, even though you have the alarm and wheel clamp on , the insurer can reject your claim.

For me at the moment I am still with the Caravan Club scheme. It is not the cheapest but in my opinion does offer th ewidest cover with the least restrictions.

As they say , you pays your money and....

Hi

I should've posted this a long time back....

Yes, they gave me a great quote, but when the hard copy came through the letterbox, I noticed that the value of my 'van was noted as

I have been with the Caravan Club for years, however I have just renewed my policy with safegard ( swinton group ). As I had a Metis tracker on my Fleetwood they gave me 25% off and reduced my payment by almost 50%.

I suggest people shop around.

Hi

I shalll certainly check them out when my insurance comes up for renewal.

Maybe we should devise a 'wish list' for essential cover so that we can check it off against each company? That way we'd know if we're getting a good deal or not!

I have been with NFU for several years and found them to be quite reasonable, but have never had to claim. The other contender was Crusader but found they will not recover from Abroad.
