Hi guys has anyone been to the isle of wight with a caravan (silly question really ) using wrightlink ferrys. i have just

received our tickets for our holiday next march and noticed that on the ticket it says " caravans; please remove roof aerials and close skylights prior to your arrival as there are

height restrictions on board." does this `remove aerials` mean

the caravan status aerial ? : )

mark.

I've been using Wightlink between Portsmouth and Fishbourne for at least the last 15 years and have never removed my aerial. Only once was I asked how high my caravan was and I said that I wasn't sure. The man muttered something under his breath and walked away.

In my experience there is always plenty of room.

Mark, do not worry about removing the aerial on Wightlink ferries, there is no need.

Living on the Island I use the ferries a lot and have never been asked to remove the aerial or had any problems with regard height on the boats.

same as the other 2 mark we go to the island with whitelink twice a year and have never had to remove the aerial. we usually find that caravans are lower than most of the trucks on board anyway.

Never had to remove the aerial however do not arrive at the docks too early as, if they are busy, they will send you back out! They asked us to go out of the docks and find somewhere to park (Portsmouth with a 25'1' caravan on the back). Fortunately, I was 6 months pregnant at the time and took my time walking to the terminal building to check in. By the time we got back to the caravan it was nearly time to board!!
