Hi All,

After purchasing a 2014 Bailey, I am considering reactivating the Tracker System. I contacted Tracker to ask about the costs. Took them 2 days to respond, asking for more details, I don't know why, as I only wanted the costs to reactivate, another 2 days without reply. I wounder if the Tracker Service is any better than customer care?

Thanks

It does have various reports of stolen cars and caravans being recovered very quickly although it is not infallible.

I had lost of spurious alarms on mine due to cold weather, so was getting lots of text and phone calls from tracker. Disabaling it changed my insurance by about £10. As I was on a new for old policy, rather have a new caravan.

I still pay £120 a year for their service. It was an insurance requirement. I need to look into this at the next renewal. My cover is still new for old on an 8 year old unit.
Don't know if it works. However if the van was stolen do you really want it recovered and repaired knowing it has been trashed by some lout?

Wouldn't particularly want the van back, but it would be nice to be able to recover all the personal stuff we carry and have accumulated over the years in the van all the 'useful' bits and 'spares'. But seeing as 'that' would have all gone, --- don't want the van back so refused tracker.

Our caravan was factory fitted with a Phantom tracker which sometimes worked and sometimes didn't when we tested it or forgot to notify the monitors when we went somewhere with the caravan.
They contacted me to tell me that the tracker had packed up and that the only solution was an expensive replacement.
I contacted Club Care, our insurers and without the tracker our premium rose by around £10 per year.
We never bothered with the replacement tracker, we felt that it was a bit of a scam anyway.

I think the advantage of the tracker is that if it is recovered it is usually before the thieves have had time to do any damage. The caravans stolen from Preston Caravans were recovered before they got out of the city. If you do not have one and it is recovered the chances are it will be due to some good luck on the Police's part when they discover a bunch of them and that is when you might not want it back.

Try ringing them instead - they are responsive and helpful. 01895 234567 for HQ or 455698 for Tech Supp

As for reactivating do it through the CC if you are a member as the rates are about 50% less, i.e. about £89 per year or £199 for as long as you keep the caravan. You will need the CRiS number to reactivate.

CaravanGuard do good discounts for having Tracker fitted.
