Lee,

The site i use at that time of year is Troutbeck Head Caravan Club site, 1 mile off the main Keswick to Penrith road and 6 miles from Keswick. Very easy as you will know to get to Derwentwater from there.

Large open hard standings, wonderfull view of saddleback

(Blencathrs), two excellent underfloor heated toilet blocks.

Good site irrespective of the weather.Great when it snows. Magnificent views as you are so high above sea level. If it does snow while you are there, being so close to the main road it does not cause a problem.

Site quiet just before Christmas but usually full up over Christmas and New Year.

Lee,

Yes non members are admitted to this site.

You can call the site direct on 01768 483521.

The address is:- Troutbeck Head Caravan Club Site, Troutbeck, Penrith, CA11OSS.

It is on the A5091 one mile from the A66.

Just a thought, depending on your length of stay it could almost be cheaper to join the club.

Our Club Site at Troutbeck near Keswick has everything that is good about the Lake District. A superb location in unbeatable walking country with fantastic views - it even has resident red squirrels. In this Eden district, there are 70 main tourist attractions.

This year the site will be open for Christmas and New Year - from 18 December 2009 to 3 January 201

It's open to non members but as Hamer says, same as the CC, it might be an idea to join.

I used the above site quite a bit and I love it. The wardens are brilliant, showers and toilets immaculate, piped music in there too. LOL!! Very easy access, breathtaking views. If you have dogs, you can walk for miles in open countryside direct from the site.

Good luck

Lisa
