Yet another battery problem

I was told today that it is not advisable to recharge a leisure battery with a normal car battery charger. Is this correct and if so why?

Colin, with earlier chargers there was a possibility of overcharging a leisure battery, and causing damage.

Today, with a multi stage charger, you shouldnt have any problems, as it monitors the charge state and adjusts accordingly.
