Hi Fiona,

Will there be children in your party or do you want to be within walking distance of a village/pub etc? If not I would recommend The Ashes, (Adults only) which is about 4 miles outside Kendal and ideal for touring the North /South Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales whilst only a few minutes off the M6. We used this several time before our daughter was born. Depending on how far you want to go into the Dales the other Caravan Club Sites in the Lakes at Meathop Fell and Low Park Wood are also okay for touring the areas.

Otherwise I would also recommend Brown Moor at Hawes. We spent 8 nights there at Easter and popped over to Kendal and Cartmel in the Lakes during our stay. The scenery alone makes the drive worthwhile. Like Duggie we particularly liked the benefits of being able to walk into Hawes.

Got agree with both posts, Brown Moor Hawes go their every year but not this year doing Anglesey instead O/H not amused would rather go back to Hawes l think its the 3 pubs you can walk to in 5 minutes and the walks in the morning, loads of them.

May get a slap off the wife and rollocking off both our yorkies if Phenros is not upto Hawes.
