    Caravan Windsocks....

I use an old TV ariel clamp to clamp it to the jockey wheel and a screw stake at the base attached with a short bungie. This doubles up for the dog as well. David

    Gb sticker

Hi John The only silly question is the one not asked :-) GB plates with the EU flag are fine, if they have any other flag or ENG, SCO etc, they arn't and you'll need a GB sticker. The water is fine, and if your unsure or want to be cautious then buy some water purification tablets, the're...

Stability - do other factors beside loading and weight matter?

Again thanks for the replies and the interesting discussion. The Freelander in question is a Freelander1 and is a great tow car and I would recommend anyone to consider. Neither of the incidents were close to a 'snake', and only provoked a quick lift off the throttle. I suspect that both were a...

Stability - do other factors beside loading and weight matter?

Thanks for the replies, I guess the number of variables rules out any simple answer. My question was prompted by some early thinking about my next tow car, I'm torn between sticking with a 4x4 maybe a Sorento or an estate likely contenders being an Audi A6 or Volvo David

Stability - do other factors beside loading and weight matter?

I've towed a variety of caravans with various cars over the years and mostly without any concerns about the outfit becoming unstable. Predominantly this has been with estates but for the last two years with a freelander TD4, during which I have had a couple of incidents when I felt that the...

    New and nervous!!

The best advice I can give from my dim memory of our early forrays into the darkside, are, have a few short breaks close to home. Its easier to go and fetch the things you've forgotton. Make a list of the things it wasn't worth fetching and enjoy it. The reality is as long as I remember the...

    SAAB 9-5 estate

Hi Clive I have a 9-5 estate 2.3t which is an excellent tow car. I have a manual so can't comment on auto although I have heard that they can be heavy on fuel. I drive 15 -20 000 miles a year and apart from having to have the air con regassed no problems, but lots of comfort and enjoyment. David

How old is the average vanner?

A combined age of 106 at an average of 35 shame the dogs only 8. Been caravaning for a whole year now, before that 20+ years camping and before that many years caravaning with parents. Dave

In which part of the country do you live?

Now residing in Sutton In Ashfield. Yes another from Nottinghamshire. Caravaning is definately a popular hobby round here. Out of 12 homes on our street 8 have caravans and one a motorcaravan.

So what do you do for a living

Been away from the PC for a while so just catching up I'm a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a community alcohol team. Always a good opener when chatting to fellow caravaners on sites. Because one of us almost always has a drink in their hand. When I retire I'm going to go into private practice...
