have had the same problem after draining the system , when i go flush the loo motor whurs but no flush, solution i have found is simple fill the flush tank to the top with water and hey presto flush works.

I use a clay bar kit, not as abrasive as T cut the use 3 coats of Auto Glyn and finally a sealer, brings the front up a treat.
