You are right Dave i went to clear the snow from roof of caravan and looked at the plastic spike that as now fell off and there is a stiff wire rod inside the plastce spike.So i could now use a sealant tube as the outher only covers the small metal rod thanks for your reply

Hi Reg & Pat You must have water coming out of cold and hot taps to make sure that the hot tank is full of water, before you turn on the electric or the gas it will take a while to run hot. Drain down after if you are putting van away for the winter

Hi Chris I open all drain plugs and let this drain then i close all the taps and open the shower tap and blow down the shower this gets all the last drop of the water out of the pipes Then i leave all taps open for the winter. John Worcester

Hi Stephen Is this red knob on the end of a pipe ? if so i have the same on my Crown van its a drain. i do not think you can just give it a good pull there is a small ring round the top of it, this needs to be pushed up and then pull the red plastic bung at the same this will release the grip...
