    Dordogne in July

We are planning a three-week tour in the Dordogne in July this year. We prefer quieter campsites, rather than Pontins-style sites. I’m hoping that I don’t need to book ahead for that time of the year – preferably just turn up on the day, or next best-case, phone the day before. What are your...

How to open an Enduro Mover control unit

The caravan supplier asked me to bring it to them. But I will ask them if a technician can come to me. Fingers crossed. Thanks

How to open an Enduro Mover control unit

It’s a big mystery! I soldered the relay back onto the motherboard. I put the control box back in the caravan. I connect the cables. I switch on the remote control. First, I test the left-hand motor – the motor that was working before. Relays click. Nothing happens! Next, I go to the...

How to open an Enduro Mover control unit

Update: I got the cover off the control unit - the screws were on the back - as suggested by trevormonty. Took the unit to a TV repair shop and they desoldered the culprit relay. I've tested the relay - it works. Oh dear (translated from the Anglo-Saxon!) So it looks like the screw-drive of the...

How to open an Enduro Mover control unit

Thanks guys. I noticed the sink marks after Monty replied. Good idea from John to maybe replace them all. I'm on a pitch at the moment (Bolnuevo, next to the Mediterranean; yeah, it's atough life!). I'm nose in to the pitch so my reverse will get me out safely. Likewise reverse is all I need...

How to open an Enduro Mover control unit

My mover is playing up. Left hand motor powers forward and reverse. Right hand motor powers reverse only. The control box clicks for the right hand motor when demanding either forward or reverse on the right hand motor. I conclude the relay for Right+Forward has a locked switch. Maybe a quick...

Touring in Spain - Any Tips Welcome

Albarracin is the most fantastic village in Spain. Whole of the surrounding area is great too. Zaragoza – you never need to book – it’s a one-night stopover for most people, but in June it’s cool enough to go sight-seeing in the city. June 24th is a public holiday so that week you may need to...

    Signs of getting old

We have an air canopy – it doesn’t have a front panel and we never fit the sides. When we’re out for the day we stow our stuff underneath the caravan in a lower “draft skirt” that has big zip-up pockets – out-of-sight and out-of-mind.

    Via Michelin

"At the moment the option for towing a caravan is no longer visible, but will be re-instated." Well, I'll be pleased to see it re-instated - but where did you learn this?

    Eldiss Solid construction

I think the primary issue is design quality… As a young automotive engineer in the 1970s I read many technical papers regarding improvements in vehicle body design and how to avoid corrosion problems. Simple things like making sure that the underside of overlap joints on floor panels don’t face...

    Removing a caravan cover

Hello, Having heard all the pros and cons, I have bought a custom caravan cover – the sun is brutal here in Spain and we get a lot of Sahara rain. I’m planning to wash the caravan, each time, before fitting the cover to make sure there is no grit that might scratch the caravan when the wind...

The caravan market is as bonkers as ever.

OK, let’s take that the Daily Mail's Money Doctor as gospel. So, dealer A chooses “the total transaction cost” scheme. If he buys a car from a VAT-un-registerd private seller he will need to apply VAT to the final selling price. The final selling price will either be inflated when compared to...

    Help ! Broken van..

Good point. Welding is a no-no. But bolting a replacement C-section appears feasible. The web holes are already there on one side of the break. Not enough web holes on the other side but it is surely do-able to drill a few more holes in the web?
