Via Michelin

We use Via Michelin it quite a bit to get an idea of distance, time and costs. We always complete the options inputting type of vehicle and average cost of fuel a litre. At the moment the option for towing a caravan is no longer visible, but will be re-instated. However there is now an option that states "Avoid leaving the country"? Not sure why they have that option? 😂

Perhaps to avoid crossing borders for trips in mainland Europe but within one country.

As RogerL says. On the continent it can be that the shortest route crosses borders into, then out of a neighbouring country.

Well, I'll be pleased to see it re-instated - but where did you learn this?

Hire car agreements often do not allow driving outside the country of hire or sometimes it is an extra cost option that may not be taken up. So the feature would be useful to someone using the app in those circumstances.

Border crossings can be a problem if you are moving from a country that does not require a motorway Vignette to one that does. Germany to Austria for example can mean you are on an Austrian motorway without a vignette which may result in a 150 Euro fine if the motorway police are not feeling friendly. Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic readily spring to mind.
