    Sticky carpets

Kustom Sport (Barnsley) make caravan lift-up carpets to order. Take your old ones. Pick up your new ones a few days later. Or use a carrier (they'll send you patterns). Google them. We replaced ours last Autumn for £200.00p. I can recommend them, they manufacture carpets for all...

    Mobile phone as wifi hotspot

Download an app called Ookla. It's a speed test, and it helps. Don't use any other unless you know it. Last year I used another app which used nearly 5Gb in about a week for the same speed test. Three recommended Ookla, and it's been fine, with negligible usage of my Gb's John.

    Mobile phone as wifi hotspot

It is dead easy. Just ask at your dealers (3 are best for this, I think). It is done within seconds and it is as reliable as the mobile signal. Speed can vary, but ask. We use it often when in the caravan - it's really the only practical way. You could also look into buying a wi-fi dongle...

Tow mirror vibration (that old chestnut!)

I got over the problem - I have the caravan on a permanent pitch all year round.

    Whale Submersible Pump issues

We have the same problem with our newly bought 2010 Swift Conqueror 480, although our external pump (from barrel to tank) is a Truma. Can anyone explain exactly how the system works? PLEASE! Many thanks in advance.

    New van alert

Just been and swapped caravans for a two berth 2011 Swift Conqueror 480. Quite a bit larger than the Caravelair, and I have to say better made to a much better spec. Does anyone have experience of this model that might help? We'd finished caravanning for this year, but another trip (one at...

    Handbrake or motor mover?

Thanks to you all for replying, and so quickly! Looks like I'll be using my wheel ramps as chocks, wheel clamp on (not ALKO type), handbrake off (I just can't trust it not to stick on next May), and corner steadies firmly down. Motor mover OFF. My drive has a slight slope. Much, much obliged.

    Handbrake or motor mover?

Hi, I'm looking for advice here, and I hope that you can help. I don't like the idea of leaving the handbrake on all winter - we won't be using the caravan again until next May. I have it in mind that if I leave the handbrake on all that time it will stick on when we come to use the...

    care all forms of

Hi Smiley, When you say that you've "I have just signed up", where or how did you do this? I find this whole subject completely confusing, and a bit of clarification would be a great help. We're not, at the moment, in a needy position, but who knows what the future may bring. Being...

    Xplore 304

Hi Ed, I'm 78 years old, with similar precautions re having too big a caravan. I also have a Hyundai i40 1.7 litre diesel which I did not want to change. We looked around and the first question was do we want a motorhome or caravan - new or used? We decided on a caravan because with a...

Radio 4 - Quality of a new motorhome

I agree John, and retailers are skilled at convincing their customers that they have little or no redress.

Radio 4 - Quality of a new motorhome

My continuing thought is:- You give the retailer £60,000 They give you a motor home. They receive your part of the bargain 100% - they cannot complain. You should expect to receive 100% of their side of the bargain. If you don't, then really they have reneged on their part of your...

Radio 4 - Quality of a new motorhome

To me it doesn't matter who made the parts used in a caravan or motorhome. As with a new car/Tv/Washer etc etc ... , parts are sourced from a multitude of places, but the warrantee is down to the seller. How the manufacturer supports the seller in this is irrelevant to the consumer. Making...

Is there a stigma surrounding a Hobby

To have a stigma, you have to earn it.
