    Happy at last !

Lunar are a good enough unit , but let down by a few design faults. Like any product I suppose . I work as an aircraft fitter and today a lot of engineers are all ears and no engines . Good at the talk but unable to walk the walk.

    Happy at last !

The shower walls were covered with plastic honeycomb bathroom panels. Like everything now , expensive . 700mm ×700mm enclosure/ 3 walls came to £152

    Happy at last !

Hi , Glad to say that I have finally completed my little lunar 490/4 . This was bought just before Christmas and unfortunately required quite a bit of work , but after fitting a new boiler , motor mover bearings and replacing the toilet floor and cassette toilet door, it is now ready for the...

You could perhaps look up your caravan manual if you have it or view it online. Let me know how you get on .

    Truma water filter

Most vans have what I photographed. The photos you put up are not filters . Don't panic though. Someone else here will come along and help . Probably they're just having their tea at the moment. In the meantime, look up truma filters online and you'll see . There's a lot to know about...

    Truma water filter

Hi , the filter housing is outside the van . Whenever you lift the white flap door you'll see a blue cap . Unscrew this and it it will come out with a black cylindrical charcoal filter. A replacement can be purchased on eBay.

    Lunars poor design

Thanks , I never wanted a project .I bought this as I thought it was mint and a bargain . If it wasn't for bad luck I would have none. I have made pledge to the wife and kids that I can turn this around. Have already booked a park in August. Plenty of time ..

    Lunars poor design

Hi , I resealed the rear lower panel with fresh butyl tape , a row of small stainless self tapers and sealed over with Sikaflex 522 . Refitted the light panel and side awning trims and sealed the top of the light panel with 522 . Not the sort of job you would want every Saturday. Removing old...

    Lunars poor design

I was going to try and find a replacement tray for this Lunar , but after removing the tray and realising who flimsy they are I decided not to bother . A good friend has offered to make one from stainless which will last for ever and ever .

    Which caravan to purchase

You're quite right .. it's hard to keep them water tight . It's only whenever you carry out big repairs and really discover how poorly some have been put together. The Alko chassis is super but you'll find sadly that's where the quality stops.

    Which caravan to purchase

Stay clear of Lunars . I have one and wish I hadn't.
