Clive, not sure why you say "supposed disagreement" - there was clearly some disagreement and discussion on the subject "bmw" on the Towcars forum...

Christine, I do agree with you. CliveV's postings have become increasingly tedious, arrogant, pompous, intemperate and self-centred. Everybody else seems to be out of step, maybe he should change his name to Clive Vs The World...

    Shogun

The quotation is "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.", it's attributed to Edmund Burke... William Gaddis wrote "Stupidity's the deliberate cultivation of ignorance." (William Gaddis, Carpenter's Gothic). It seems to apply to many of the postings on...

    Last post

Moderator, The Forum home page lists the last post on each Forum but this isn't always accurate - when you then click on the specific Forum you then find a different last post. Are you aware of this 'feature'? Cheers, Simon

    To all Brits

Juan, thank you! I'm sure we all join together in sending our sympathy to all those affected by yesterday's horrendous events. Puts the endless (and repetitious) debates about 4x4s and the recent rash of intemperate postings on this forum into perspective... Take care, Simon

    Tolls

Ron, Clive's point about the Michelin site not including the additional charges for the caravan is worth stressing - I'm not sure how much you need to add for the caravan but it does add up... the web site address should be: www.autoroute.fr/index Cheers, Simon

    Volvo S60 d5 diesel

Captain Kangaroo (which I suspect may not be your real name...), we used to tow with a S60 D6 - excellent car for towing, loads of torque and had self-levelling rear suspension (an option) which made for a level and stable tow. Now hop off and get a sensible name... Cheers!

    Subaru 3.0R Auto

Hi Andy, we had a days test drive in the Subaru 3.0 R which was hugely entertaining. We found the car a but frantic as it delivered its power at high revs and we averaged only 24mpg solo. Even driving gently the consumption was awful. Ended up with the Volvo V70 D5 AWD which is nearly as quick...

    VOLVO S60 D5

Mike, we had a Volvo S60 D5 which we used to tow our Eccles Topaz (MTPLM 1318kg) - the car was great, enough torque and power to provide easy and stable towing. We've now moved on to the V70 D5 AWD which provides the same towing capability but more practical luggage space and better traction on...

    Suncamp Scenic Porch Awnings

Jonathan, we ordered one of these awnings at the Earls Court show as we found we weren't using our full size Dorema awning as it's too much hassle to put up for a weekend. We finally used the new awning last week and it was great - it's very quick and easy to erect and provides enough space for...

    I can't unhitch!!

Paul, we had the same problem in the same circumstances when we first used a CL. After spending ages jumping up and down on the towbar (and even longer swearing...), I asked the one other caravanner on the site for help. He wound the jockey wheel up and, when it started to lift the car, he just...
