    Removing fine scratches from car.

Both my cars are dark, and if you can't hide it with the polish then the only thing you can do is a touch up stick I think. I've done that once on my dark blue S-Max where it was down to bare metal and it doesn't come out well - does the job of hiding the scratch but definitely looks like a...

    Removing fine scratches from car.

I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish, followed by Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. It's pretty good at hiding minor scuffs, swirl marks etc. It also gives you a good 3 months of the water beading beautifully on the paintwork whenever it rains. :)

    No water pump

Yes, I reckon the spare pump might be a worthwhile investment - cheers.

    No water pump

As an update in case this helps anyone else - I've now got it fixed. I'd tried all three taps in the van and none of them worked, so had ruled out taps as a cause. But it turns out I don't have microswitches on the taps - I have something called a Truma Ultraflow Surge Damper, which is buried...

    No water pump

Thanks all. I did try moving the impellor, no problems, and even borrowed a pump from a local chap with a van - no luck. I've had the rocker switch out and broke it whilst taking it apart, d'oh! Fortunately make and model were printed on it so new one on its way from aliexpress. Meanwhile last...

    No water pump

Ah yes, sorry, it's a Truma - the type you plug one end into a socket on the outside of the van, and the end with the actual pump goes into the water barrel. I should have clarified, I have 12V at the inputs to the switch on the main circuit board but nothing showing across the switch itself...

    No water pump

Was careful to use a 10A fuse, same as the one that was originally in there, and also swapped it back to its original circuit afterwards where it still worked. I've got nothing across the fuse, but I don't think I would do unless the pump was actually drawing current? I tried my meter across...

    No water pump

Promised the kids we could go for an exciting holiday to the driveway tonight, so have been prepping the van after its winter layover. Went to sterilise the water system and the pump is not working. When I flick the "Pump" switch on the main caravan switchboard the little red light doesn't...

BMW 5 series touring - day to day running

I had a 2014 520d automatic for 4 years (the saloon version). It returned around 41 mpg in mixed driving, or 49 mpg on a motorway run. 25 mpg when towing my 1635 kg Coachman, which it did with ease. I can't comment on service costs as it was a company car, but other than regular services it...

    Truma Ultrastore water heater

Stupid question maybe but have you checked the gas is turned on both at the gas bottle, and at the valve which controls the inlet to the water heater? The latter is in the cupboard under the sink in our van together with 3 others for oven / fridge / heater and occassionally gets knocked to the...

    Hyundai Santa Fe.Manual.7 Seater

I bought a 2016 Sorento for towing last year - the Kia and Hyundai are basically the same cars with common parts etc. I was going to buy a manual, but after doing some research there seemed to be a far higher than normal number of incidents of problems with the manual clutch when towing -...

    Kampa awning exploding

Oh right, you'll have to let me know where! This year's site in Switzerland and last year in Germany and Netherlands were all significantly smaller than UK pitches, even after paying extra for the "comfort" pitches. I'd assumed this was just the way it was all over Europe!

    Kampa awning exploding

Yes, we regularly go away with some friends who have the Coleman version of that. It's brilliant, usually goes up between the two vans and plenty of room for all 8 of us to eat come rain or shine, adults to sit around in evening when kids are in bed etc. It's pretty big though! We can get...
