    Supplied caravan table.

We only ever use our supplied table outside or in the awning. (When overwintering in Spain it remains permanently set up in the awning). Our caravan is so small that the table would take up practically all the space inside! ..... we find the pull/fold out table perfectly adequate for the two...

Right/Left vs nearside and off side

RH and LH (should) refer to the side as viewed from BEHIND the vehicle. Thus in UK the 'nearside' is the LH. Obviously if the caravan were abroad in many countries NS & OS would be reversed, whereas the RH / LH description is universal.

THETFORD FRIDGE VENTILATOR KIT - Any good?

I fitted a 12v computer fan on a bracket in precisely the same way as the Thetford kit (just below the top 'condenser' bit, and at the the same angle. I didn't bother with a thermostat and just switch it manually as required. Yes, it helped considerably in Spain this winter, especially...

Caravan site convenient for Bilbao ferry - ideas?

For the Tuesday morning Bilbao sailing you can check-in on the Monday afternoon between 1600hrs and 1900hrs (there are waiting lanes before check-in, and they often start earlier). You can then spend the night (free) at the port. The majority of caravans/motorhomes do this. They start...

Fridge element and also heating issue

Just a sideways suggestion......... Since your 'van is static on a site, and you clearly have EHU, why not consider simply replacing the fridge with a standard domestic fridge?. Used fridges in good working order can usually be had for £20-30 (or even quite often free) as long as you can...

    Solar panel terminals

The LH and center terminals are the connections directly to the panel. There is a bypass diode between them (as is common to most panels). This diode is useful if there multiple panels in series. The RH terminal has a forward-conducting diodefrom the panel +ve. This diode prevents current...

    Bed slats sticking!

I find with mine that rather than pushing the slats together from the far end, and then pushing them in in one go, it is best to feed each slat slowly in separately taking care to push the slat in squarely from both sides. It also helps if the webbing is pushed downwards, rather than randomly...

    Normal or Organic?

What is a break tank? It's not usually a 'tank' as such (though these are used commercially in some situations). There should however be some form of siphon-break or one-way valve to prevent water from any storage vessel from being drawn back into the mains supply if the supply pressure...

    Alloy Wheel Query!

I am at a complete loss as to why caravans have alloy wheels at all .... apart that is from 'Bling' ? The usual claimed reason reason on a car is that it improves acceleration, but that is hardly a significant factor with a towed caravan. I suppose there is some weight saving which helps...

    Euro breakdown cover - again

Ray, that is specifically under 'UK Breakdown/Recovery'. As far as I can see, there is no mention of this under 'European Rescue'.

    Amp reader..

Firstly, the shunt you have is fine for everything except the motor-mover. It is usual to leave the mover directly connected to the battery, and connect EVERY thing else via the shunt. The mover will of cause use some power which will not be recorded, but the actual Ah typically consumed is...

    Euro breakdown cover - again

I have been comparing the detailed wording of Red Penant (vehicle) and Arrival. (note that Arrival has recently been 'enhanced' in a few respects). The only significant difference I can spot is that Red Pennant say that if necessary they will 'TRY' to source a hire car with a a towbar so you...

    Has anybody else noticed?

I'm only seeing a panel on the right with 4 'Most recent caravan reviews'. I think that is the same as its always been. AdBlock is reporting 14 blocks on most forum pages

    Thetford toilet warning light query!

It's a reed switch actuated by a magnet on the float arm within the cassette. The float is a notorious cause of trouble on all models, even the old ones with a mechanical display. It is far more reliable to simply look down the hole! :)

    Tow bar fun and games!

What is the height of the centre of your tow-ball above ground, with caravan not attached? It should be between 350mm-420mm. However you mention that it is a 'sport' model .... which may have suspension implications. You may find this old thread interesting...
