Right/Left vs nearside and off side

Hi members - please can anyone help.
I need to buy a rear light cover for the near side (nearest the kerb) of the caravan.
However all the on-ine suppliers refer to right and left hand sides.
I know this sounds stupid but is the near side the same as the right or left hand side?
Thanks in advance.
Roy

RH and LH (should) refer to the side as viewed from BEHIND the vehicle. Thus in UK the 'nearside' is the LH.

Obviously if the caravan were abroad in many countries NS & OS would be reversed, whereas the RH / LH description is universal.

We drive in a right handed seat, nearside is left. Not that left, the other left. Heard that more than once from a banksman. B)
