My car insurance (2 yr old Insignia, fully comprehensive) is just under £300, but the caravan insurance on a 5 year old caravan is over £300. Senseless.

I was bemused by the comment "the kitchen cupboard doors are a different colour to those in the lounge so you know you are in the kitchen." If you don't know you are in the kitchen in a 2 berth van, then God help you. ;) We are still happy with our 2 berth Lunar, so won't be changing just yet.

But it doesn't pump you tyres up for you.

I was always told to set the pressures when the tyres were cold, irrespective of ambient temp. Therefore tyre wall heating should not be relied on to adjust pressure. :(

The above MTPLM is for an 'ideal' trailer eg low slung, but as a caravan isn't ideal then the recommendation is for the caravan MTPLM to be no more than 85% of the cars kerb weight.

Our Insignia hatchback 2.0 ltr 170PS has just had its 2 year service and it has proved to be an excellent tow car. Edit - with full size spare and factory fitted retractable towbar it weighs in as 1705kg kerb weight.
