Sir Gab
My mum had a state of the art larder ( Southerners name for a pantry) with two massive holes in the wall . Top and Bottom covered with mesh. The food sat on two huge pieces of marble. It was a cold and drafty place :)

We had electrickery for the lights.
But dolly legs for the washing in the dolly tub. Coal boiler originally for the hot water but then we progressed and got a gas one, a wringer (what we called mangles,) clothes horse in front of the fire. Mother was very proud when we got rid of the 'Dolly legs' and replaced them with a posher. - Oh those were the days- most of the labour was supplied by me and my brothers.
