My mum had a state of the art larder ( Southerners name for a pantry) with two massive holes in the wall . Top and Bottom covered with mesh. The food sat on two huge pieces of marble. It was a cold and drafty place 🙂

What's Electricity? My Mother had a Gas Copper for boiling water for the tin Bath, or Washing in a Dolly tub. and then dryed it with a Mangle in the yard

We had electrickery for the lights.
But dolly legs for the washing in the dolly tub. Coal boiler originally for the hot water but then we progressed and got a gas one, a wringer (what we called mangles,) clothes horse in front of the fire. Mother was very proud when we got rid of the 'Dolly legs' and replaced them with a posher. - Oh those were the days- most of the labour was supplied by me and my brothers.
