12 V Voltage Meter

I'm not sure if it's the correct terminology but I am looking for a smallish LCD meter that will give a readout of the actual voltage in the caravan battery.

Does anybody know where I can get a neat unit for my caravan and where is the best place to connect it to get an accurate reading ?

Many thanks

Bill

Almost all the slave voltage indicators are , at best average, at worst, useless.

Having worked on vans showing full charge on the slave indicator and then finding in fact the battery has only 11.8 volts when checked with a multimeter.

Maplins or even Halfords have them

I would get one with audible continuity as this is eaier to use for checking fuses etc especially in awkward places

The best place to check the battery is at the battery terminals

Itook it at first glance to mean a multi meter/tester but now woder if you mean a 12V gauge.

Maplins should have them also

Bill,

Try looking here http://www.nasamarine.com/ under their BM-1 battery indicator, it may just be what you're looking for.

Try searching google for rs components, thier web site is probably the largest online electronic parts catalogue in existance.

Mick.
I believe that RS are only for trade use.

The public can't just walk in any buy over the counter. And .... they are the one of the most expensive too !!!
