Hi Dustydog,

I have been using one of the dearer Halfords own makes for a few years now and still going strong.

It seems to cope with the higher pressures needed on some van tyres quite well.

Look at the T-Max range of air compressors as fitted to Landrover and many other 4 x 4's.

Not cheap but you did say "to replace your old rubbish one.

Just Google T-Max compressors and get best price.

I recently bought a digital one from Halfords, you set the pressure you require and it automatically turns off when the pressure is reached, it cost

I've had one of these Michelin ones for a couple of years; Brilliant.

I did try to use it from the rear 12v outlet in my CRV but there was too much power loss through the wiring for it to operate effectively; solved by running the engine whilst I pumped the tyres up. Subsequently discovered that it reaches the rear tyres from the front 12v socket anyway !!!!

I bought the Michelin one from Halfords. Seems pretty robust but the attachment to the tyre vale is screw on. Never seen that before but does work.
