12N & 12S or 13 pin?

I pick my new caravan up in a few weeks and it will be fitted with 12N + 12S plugs. My car is fitted with a single 13 pin socket so I guess it makes sense to ask my dealer to swap the caravan leads to the 13 pin type. Only snag I can think of is this; if I break down and need a recovery truck to take the caravan, will the truck be fitted with 12N/S or 13 pin? Or should I keep a 12N/S male to 13 pin female converter in the caravan, just in case? Will the breakdown truck carry one anyway?

I just carry a 13 pin to 7 pin (12N) solid adaptor converter (from Western towing).

You don't need the 12S facilities for recovery.

I also use this when towing my box trailer which has a 12 N plug.

I understand all british built caravans are going to have 13 pin connections from 2008 or 2009, so I would stick with that and carry a simple adaptor for recovery.

The 13 pin plug and socket are much better engineered than the 12N and S, one popular tye locks the plug into the socket with a quarter turn and corroded plugs and tubes are virtually unknown.
