12S extension lead

I am making up a 12S extension lead to power the caravan internal lights, pump, 12v TV etc from the car, using a twin core cable permanent live and earth what size cable do I need 1.0mm for both live and earth or 2.5mm?
regards Gordon

Hi Gordon
I would use the larger size to minimise voltage drop between car and caravan. Also, I would take care how much you use this arrangement so as not to flatten the car battery to a point where it is unable to start the car!

I made up one of these several years ago when we had a 12 volt only Sprite Musketeer. When the caravan battery became discharged I would put it in the back of the estate car to charge up if we were intending to do a lot of miles away from the 'van on that particular day. Whilst the 'van battery was in the car I used the extra 12S lead to power the 'van electrics.
I used standard domestic 240 volt twin care cable. I now use it on my present 'van whilst it is storage with the battery removed when I'm doing some work in the 'van. It still seems to work satisfactorily.
