12v pump

I have an old whale 12v submersible pump which is very temperamental so my question is...
Is it worth getting an in line pump fitted. Are they better or should I just buy a new whale 12v pump

Whale are quieter being outside. My internal Flojet is positioned under the bed and is like a small windy hammer when it cracks into life. Not good at night.

Internal pumps do tend to make a hammering noise but they run for only short periods so when we had one it did not bother us.
They seemed to be no better or worse for reliability but do save a bit of messing about when connecting to the water container and are thief proof. At seventy pounds for a pump, when we last replaced an external one, you can see why people steal them.
If you have the knowledge to fit one, to me they are probably a better long term choice.
