13 Pin Adapter Query

Hi All.
I am due to collect a caravan on Friday which uses the 13 pin electrical connection. As my car is on the old twin electrics I will need to use an adapter(which I have purchased). The question is:- how would you secure this whilst towing? I obviously don't want it trailing on the floor, nor do I want it strapped to and scratching the A-frame plastics. Any tips appreciated, Thanks, Dan.

Im going to be doing exactly the same on Tuesday Dan. Im planning on using some bungee cord around the A Frame to hold the excess cable back.

Hi Dan I was in your situation two years ago. I supported the adapter using an elastic strap (bungee) from the jockey wheel stem but really the adapter was a pain. After a few outings I removed the two 7-pin sockets from the car and replaced them with a 13-pin one. Not a difficult job - just takes time and care. Much easier if you can raise the car even by a few inches using levelling planks.
Well worth the time and effort. 13 pin so much better than the old 7 pin jobs!

Think this is the only option really. The best way would be to change the car electrics I reckon. I'll see how it goes this time, Dan.

I agree.
The adapter is a bit of a pain,but for the time being,I use an electrical tie.
I was a little worried that a bungee strap may not hold it in place properly and allow the cable/plug to drag on the floor.
Obviously I use 2 ties per journey,but it does the job until I get the car changed to a 13 pin.

I just wrap mine once round the hitch, works ok for me.

I use a bungee elastic as well. It works perfectly for me.

I do the same as Graham Derby, wrap the caravan cables around the jockey wheel and supported by the brakeaway cable.

By the way Graham, that is a frightening avator!

Thanks all. I strapped to jockey wheel with a bungee, a little untidy but works well. Car is due to be replaced later this year so will probably make do until then. Thanks again, Dan.
