13 pin audible relay ?

I recently wired my Kia Sorento 2008 for the new 13 pin electrics. I used the vehicle specific wiring looms that plug into exsisting car loom, wired the relays to battery for fridge/battery charging, no probs.
But cannot find the instructions anywhere for the mandatory audible/visual relay?

tried the standard audible relay, matched all the colours and the relay sounds even when van is not connected!

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the audible relay to 13 pin ?? Please.

hi,
we have the same problem. we have a c8 with a specific wiring loom. we were told and have read on various sites that as long as you have a device to tell you the bulbs are not flashing, ie indicator light on dash double flashing, that would be ok.

please someone can you inform me if this is correct.

We have a Ford Mondeo, bought second-hand from a (non-Ford) dealer, which already had a tow bar, However, there is no audible warning when the indicator is activated.

try connecting up your car to the 'van and removing the indicator bulb from the caravan, if your warning light is flashing faster then you do not have a problem. Evidently the car senses the indicator on the van as well so if it flashes normally it's ok if it's flashing faster or stays on one of the THREE bulbs is not working

Hi
I have a Vauxhall with a factory fitted towbar and 13pin electrics and the warning device IS the indicator light flashing at a different speed so it is ok like that.

I am under the impression that the law states. the audible/visual indicator indicates when the trailer lights are flashing, and not when they are not working,
the vehicle indicators will only flash "faster" when a bulb on the towing vehicle is out, regardless of the trailer.

WHAT I NEED IS A WIRING DIAGRAM TO INCLUDE THE AUDIBLE RELAY, as per the conventional 7 pin set up, where the indicator flashes when the trailer lights flash,

The letter of the law is fulfilled if there is either audible or visual confirmation that the indicators are working or if there is a warning that they aren't working.

thanks for the link, but it refers to 12N systems, to which I have followed exactly, , when I wire it up as per your link, the buzzer actuates whether caravan connected or not??? all the lighting/charging system works fine otherwise??

any suggestions

I know this does not help you, but the indicators do flash "faster" on my car if a bulb is out on the caravan. As I said on my last post it is a 13 pin socket and factory fit tow bar. I have posted this to help anyone else who is unsure if that is ok and as Lutz has said it is ok. From what I understand is a lot of new cars are being made/wired like this.

I came across this on my C4. I checked with the dealer and he stated the the indicator is simply to show bulb failure and there is no legal requirement for audio or additional visual indicators providing the indicatrs flash at a a faster speed should the trailer indicators fail.

Did you put the relay in line with the green and yellow cables, or just scotch lock to the cables? so that you had green from wiring loom to relay then Orange from relay to 13 pin socket, and same for yellow, through relay and Grey to socket?
