Hi there

Trying for some time now to find a way to convert my car and caravan from 7 pin N & S plug and socket to the new 13 pin arrangment without ripping out the existing wiring in both car and van. In other words trying to find a socket and plug that will take both cables into the back of one.

Is there such a thing on the market yet a where?

riversway leisure have come the close to finding such a thing.

Thay have convertor that you could take the plug and socket off

part number 981020 & 982021 on page 34 of there Catalogue. Also if you cut the wires to the 7 pine plug,s on both strip back the outer insulation I think you should be able to change each wire in turn useing the old wire as a guide.

Do not wish to put connector strips or connection boxes under van

Kind regards Steve

Make up an "extension lead2 with 12S and 12N sockets on one end and a 13 pin plug on the other - parts available quite readily. Plug existing van cables into socket and coil up and secure surplus cable under front of van. this means when you sell van and/or have to have it towed by vehicle with conventional sockets, its just a matter of removing the extension lead.

See various previous threads for the details of where to get the parts.

Just wire all the car wires into a 13-pin socket and all the caravan wires into a 13-pin plug, the pin allocation is compatible - that's exactly what I've done although the 12S cables have the outer insulation removed to allow room in the sealing gland.
