En route to the cotswolds last week discovered by chance that the caravan indicators were not working. Recently changed my car to one with single 13 pin socket. Lights were working fine on the old car which had twin electrics which I connected to the van with an adaptor. Caravan is a new 2009 Bailey Ranger GT60 and car is a new 2010 Freelander 2 with dealer fitted towbar. I had assumed all was well because the trailer repeater light on the dash was working when I indicated. I may have been driving round with no indicators for last three months.

Whilst on site we connected another caravanners car to the van using my old twin adaptor and everything worked fine. This suggests the van wiring is ok. I wasn't sure whether it had been caused by a motor mover I had fitted a few weeks ago. Other caravanners have said that the 13 pin system is a bit suspect. Does anyone have any suggestions before I take the car back to the dealers?

Interestingly, another van arriving on site was indicating the opposite way to the car. I pointed it out to the owner who like me had been duped into thinking all was well because of the dashboard repeater operating. He also had 13 pin system and it was the first time out for his new Swift.

HI! Cobbers you obviuosly dont check your lights everytime you hookup the van if you say that you could have been running like that for 3 months .it only takes a few seconds to check .get s.w.m.b.o to check everytime you connect .

cheers Duggie

Did the dealer fit the dedicated 13pin wiring harness ??

13pin dedicated wiring harness

On a recent thread someone had a problem & it turned out to have been fitted with scotch locks & tape !!!! instead of a dedicated wiring harness......
