16A Blue mains connectors

Not strictly caravaning but as I've always had great help and advice here I thought I'd ask anyway!!
We have just bought a static on a new site and over the weekend went out to check a few things out and noticed that the mains input box which connects to the van via the normal 3 pin blue connector which I thought was rated at 16A has a 32A breaker fitted? Looking inside the van there is a a 20A and 2 6A breakers so adda up to the 32A at the box BUT is this right? I always thought the blue caravan connectors were only rated at 16A?

The blue plug normally designates that it is single phase electric supply due to the voltage being used in this country.
When you go back take another look at the size of the plug and if it is only a 16A one ask why.

Hello Len,

The standard caravan EHU is rated for a maximum of 16A, but there are 32A versions which are also blue, but if you look carefully it will not be compatible with the 16A versions

Wow such a quick and helpful response - as usual!! Will take another look when we go out again.

hi Len, sorry I missed this, not that it matters as the info received is correct,
the plug will be Blue as this denotes single phase 230v but the 32amp plug will be bigger as will the connecting wire.
a 110v plug would be Yellow, and a 440v 3 phase plug Red just in case you ever wondered.
