Stabiliser??

So this is my hitch on the 2001 Elddis avante.
Can I swap it for an alko stabiliser and if so which one??

With that hitch, your caravan may well have a BPW chassis, not an Alko, and the Winterhof stabiliser may be more suitable.

I think you will find Elddis changed from BPW to Alko in 2014 so you would need a Winterhoff

The chassis or axle should have a label on. Might need to crawl underneath.

Just got back, found the sticker on the axle, it’s a BPW.

In the late 90's Alko used to offer a hitch-stabiliser for both Alko and BPW style fitment (2 x bolts horizontal or 1 x horizontal and 1 x vertical). The kit came with various shims to suit different draw bar sizes and occasionally come up on EBay.

incorporated a van with a Winterhoff stabiliser. I seem to think it incorporates the stabiliser and hitch handle into one? Worked perfectly well although was a bit temperamental about unhitching.

That’s right. I‘ve got a Winterhoff stabiliser on mine and it’s sometimes a bit obstinate when it comes to unhitching. I have to move the car an inch or so forwards and backwards a couple of times in order for it to release.
