I did the same leaving Lydford Gorge in Devon. Phone and wallet on roof of car. Only realised when back at Tavistock site. Nothing retrieved and fortunately no financial loss apart from new phone, as I always have a stash of wallets unused Christmas gifts. What a great week, Steak and ale pie, washed down with a pint of cider, and the Jacobs table was loaded. Sorry had to leave early. As we were leaveing site, Hutch rang to say a corner steady was down. Got out had a look, put the phone down, decided it can wait for the next layby.
Next time I saw my phone it was bounceing down the A449 in a hundred pieces I'd put it on the roof of the car. Pr-t.
PS Looking forward to next meet.
PPS Go steady on the sole gin, Roger.
The shorts did appear😎🤪Sounds like you all had a great time. And just whether caravans are ideal for.
John
We were lucky. 80 miles, nearly all dual carriageway and motorway. 1.5 hours. Caravan stripped drained etc and back at the farm..I took us 3.5 hours to get home today, The van seemed to be perfectly balanced for towing, and had to use the Cruise control to keep the speed at a nice 58 mph, instead of going any faster.
Sorry to hear about your phone Dave,
I have heard of it. Painful! Get some suitable insoles for cushioning.Hopalong Billy apparently has Plantar fasciitis in the left foot!
No I've never heard of it either.😀
Google it if interested.
Oh dear Bill, painful. No more digging for a while! Pleased it wasn’t gout. You’d never have lived that down 🤪Hopalong Billy apparently has Plantar fasciitis in the left foot!

We had to come home early from Forest of Dean a couple of weeks ago, in order to see the GP.....diagnosed gout. I had had it for five days following a pub lunch out with friends. So no more port or boar for me....and ales/lager etc and even Marmite have been banned. At this rate I will be a veggie within a couple of months. Anyone want to buy a cadac and weber?Oh dear Bill, painful. No more digging for a while! Pleased it wasn’t gout. You’d never have lived that down 🤪
Here’s to good recovery ,but I think it may take a while😢
Gout isn't just down to excesses - I was diagnosed with gout decades ago when they also diagnosed arthritis and still have it despite the medication (Allopurinol), being teetotal and 70-80% vegetarian for years - the only thing I've noticed which brings on an attack is being dehydrated which happens frequently as I also have to avoid fluid retention to protect my fragile heart! We had to come home early from Forest of Dean a couple of weeks ago, in order to see the GP.....diagnosed gout. I’ve had gout three times last 20 years. Once caused by a knock on a bare foot. The other two doc said was an arthritis flair up. M7m had it, I inherited it . Been taking Meloxicam and to protect the giblets from the effects , Omiprazole. Ridiculous one pill to save the ill effects of another but that’s life.Gout isn't just down to excesses - I was diagnosed with gout decades ago when they also diagnosed arthritis and still have it despite the medication (Allopurinol), being teetotal and 70-80% vegetarian for years - the only thing I've noticed which brings on an attack is being dehydrated which happens frequently as I also have to avoid fluid retention to protect my fragile heart!
Carry on in moderation - while you can!
