Why would you want to change? What is the caravan makers recommended size. If you do change you have to have a Load Index if equal to or higher than the makers recommended tyres. Knowing the make, model and year would be useful.

Caravan tyres form part of the overall suspension design. Replacing the standard tyre with one of a lower profile ratio may compromise the suspension system, change the handling characteristics and possibly damage the caravan structure.

Thanks for your reply, the recommended tyres are 'Supervan' 175 r13 c.
They are for an Elddis Crown Sceptre Superking (1997).
I've just bought it as my first caravan and the tyre walls are badly cracked so need replacing.
The only reason I'm asking about a different size is because I already own some Avon 950 trailer tyres with a rating of 950kg each but they are 185/70 r13c.
I'm not a tyre expert and so am not sure if they are a significantly different size or not and if it matters as long as they physically fit?

It would seem your van fully loaded is about 1100kg, so if the tyres are suitable width wise for your rims and wheel arches?, then they will lower the vans ride height only slightly by 8mm.
Main problem then as I see it will be finding the correct pressure, being at near half their capacity, the often spoke of calculation will be out by as much as 5-7psi on the high side!
I'd advise ringing Avon and ask them
