I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 1990 ADRIA OPTIMA.WHEN NEW IT HAD NO ON BOARD BATTERY AND HAD A SINGLE SOCKET TO CONNECT TO THE CAR FOR TOWING LIGHTS AND CARAVAN POWER,THE PIN ON THE SEVEN PIN SOCKET WHICH IS NOW USED FOR FOG LIGHTS WAS ORIGINALLY USED FOR A 12V FEED FROM THE CAR TO POWER THE INTERNAL 12V SYSTEM INCLUDING THE FRIDGE THE ONLY OTHER SOURCE OF 12V POWER WAS WHEN CONNECTED TO 240V HOOK UP A TRANSFORMER/RECTIFIER IS POWERED UP AND SWITHCHES A RELAY WHICH DISCONNECTS THE 12V FEED FROM THE CAR AND USES THE TRANSFORMER/RECTIFIER 12V TO POWER THE 12V SYSTEMS..HOWEVER IT HAS BEEN ALTERED SO THAT THE 12V FEED WHICH ORIGINALLY CAME FROM THE CAR BATTERY HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THE 7 PIN SOCKET AND CONNECTED TO AN ON BOARD BATTERY WITH A 20A IN LINE FUSE ON THE POSOTIVE TERMINAL. DOES THIS SOUND LIKE AN OK UPGRADE?. ALSO THE CARAVAN BATTERY NEGATIVE IS GROUNDED TO THE CHASSIS AND THE EARTH FROM THE 240V AC SYSTEM IS EARTHED TO THE CHASSIS IS IT OK TO HAVE BOTH SYSTEMS GROUNDED TO THE CHASSIS.ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WELCOME.
