2001 rover 75 2.0 diesel AUTOMATIC.

Due to my dodgy knee, i recently bought one of the above.

Please could you tell me if it's ok to tow a 1988/89 16-17ft abbey gt 516 caravan, i'm a bit concerned becuase i haven't seen many towing cars with an AUTO transmission!

I appreciate you help.

Joe,

We have an Eriba Triton and tow with a Merc C270 autobox, and believe me, automatics are a great way to tow. Autos and vans are more common in Europe than the UK.

The BMW sourced engine in the Rover is a well respected unit.

You've made yourself happy that the Rover is a good weight match (85% recommendation) for the Abbey?

Fuel consumption will (probably) not be as good as with a manual.

Don't know of any cooling issues with the Rover.

Robert
