We are completely new to caravanning and are looking to upgrade from a folding camper. We have decided that the ideal layout for us as a family with two youngish (6 & 8) children is a 'van with fixed bunks either at the rear or along the side. We have been looking at a 2005 Lunar Chateau 500 at Highbridge Caravans and would appreciate any advice and comments that anyone can offer. Also if anyone can suggest any alternative caravans that we should consider it would be much appreciated.

Jeremy,

We have a 2005 Lunar Chateau 400 which is obviously a slightly different layout to the one you are looking at, by chance we also bought it new from Highbridge in 2005 and upgraded from a folding camper.

We also have two young children, age 3 and 18 months so the 400 layout was big enough at the time and still is.

I can highly recommend the caravan, it is extremely lightweight, very easy to tow and very well equipped for a caravan in this price range.

OK so it doesn't have blown air heating, microwaves etc but we have used it throughout the year both in this country and abroad and had virtually no problems with it.

A broken catch and a loose connection on one of the interior spotlights are the only problems we have encountered in over 120 nights away and over 6000 towing miles.

Regards

Richard
