Hello all (especially owners of above car) I have a simple query: is there a plastic cover over the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery? My car was serviced recently and and the cover was "missing" I could have sworn that there was indeed such a cover. Now I'm not so certain, and feel that I may have imagined it! Could be seiority rearing it's head. Anyone put my mind at rest?
Cheers

Hi Derek.
I had the same car as you and as far as I can remember, only the positive terminal (red) was covered......not the negative side.

Thanks Adrian,
I reckon I must have imagined it then! Question is, do I go back to the garage and eat humble pie, after having complained, or quietly fade into the middle distance??
Cheers

Just a bit of info:-
There is no real need for a cover on the Negative terminal as it is usually connected straight to the body of the car anyway, but the positive should be covered. Under normal running it should be fine , but the cover is there just in case there is an impact which might crumble some part of the body onto the positive terminal,
With such an impact its quite possible fuel or other flammable material may be spilt, so the last thing you want are sparks. But also if the battery were shorted out, it will rapidly overheat, and could rupture explosively showing acid all over the place.
