I am picking this up in two days my new towcar cannot wait to try it out with the caravan .................

Had my new car a fortnight and its been great so far in the next week or so going to have a towbar and twin sockets fitted we are going away on Friday 28th Sept ---- Tues 9th October 2012 ( Mid Wales & York ) .
Cannot tow to early it will damage the warranty on the car .....

Dont forget to tell your insurane company about fitting a towbar. It is classed as a modification and as such they shoudl be made aware of it. but in most cases they don't increase the premiums.

Yes make sure it is 'run in' before towing, like me in January wanted to get out, but had to get the steady mileage in first. You will not have any problem with the engine, it will be the same as my Skoda 2.0TDi (manual) all part of VAG. Pulls well at 60mph dual/motorways in sixth gear at 1,750rpm, the lower end of the torque range, so plenty extra power for those hills.
You will enjoy York, try the Kings Head for some good Yorkshire Ale (Sam Smiths), center of York on the riverside and £1.80 a pint!!!

I haven't run a car in for years before towing, just done around 300miles if possible.
Just don't strain the engine or over rev it, if possible.
Even so when i had the Audi i inadvertently pulled out on someone while solo, so floored the throttle and hit the rev limit, never had a problem, car just ran well all the time i had it.

Hi It is now over three weeks no towing yet and 400 miles , my mate picked up a (Brand new 2012 Seat Altea Xl SE 2.0 TDI Manual) up on the Fri 10th Aug and he floored it he going towing less than a week time . We will see who gets better miles to the gallon......

Latest update took new Towcar out with caravan for two nights only 40 miles from home and we got 35 miles to a Gallon and it was great ...............

Latest update been away for a 14 days Holiday and the outfit was awesome but the caravan has gone to bed now until early April 2013 .........
