2017 Swift Basecamp Plus review

Looks a good attempt to get into a specialist market and the Swift Brand might appeal to those not sure about the models from smaller manufacturers who people might worry that they might not be there when they need them. With all mod cons and an inside kitchen it is certainly a viable option for many although the price looks steep unless you consider a Puck as the alternative.

Now we've subjected the Swift Basecamp to our full live-in test, spending a long weekend in it on the North York Moors. Check out how it performed here.

I stuck my head in one at the NEC. I think it looks like a clever, practical and innovative approach.
OH and I are not the target demographic of course. I assume a company like Swift has done its research though as I wondered if the target demographic actually existed. Clearly the van is aimed at younger childless late 20s early 30s who are outdoors doing outdoors stuff. The target market are assumed to have time and disposal income. Perhaps the people who would previously buy a Vdub?
In theses days of the "JAM", does this target demographic still exist?
Lizzie, what sorts of Sales are Swift reporting?

We did look at this at the Glasgow show. It is not for us but it did look a decent workable caravan for those who it is aimed at and probably a few others. It deserves to succeed.

Shame that it looks very much like a pretty standard width door at the back. Missing a trick there for the disability market. A standard size van with rear wide access, now that would interest us. Come on Bailey, beat swift to the challenge. :cheer:
