Hard to believe she’s having her 15th service next week. Seems only like yesterday we brought her home from Chipping Sodbury caravans.
Why have we kept her so long? Each year we look at the new models and sadly none of the layouts or design suit us.
Caravan design for me was always about utilisation of cubic capacity and turning a police box into the Tardis. That concept seems to have been disregarded in favour of useless aesthetics.
Fingers crossed we get another year from her👍

.....I'm now going on 78 and I'm gradually slowing down so don't even think about other caravans other than the one we have!
Our Swift is 13 years old....I service it myself and it will be our last caravan.
We enjoy other types of holiday escapes that are easier than caravanning so no problem for us to eventually give up hauling a holiday home around :)

Anecdotally, the quality of new caravans has dropped since you bought yours so changing to a newer caravan would be sheer folly.

@Dustydog could you detail what make and model you have and the MIRO and MTPLM? the reason I ask is that many many years ago( 1980's), before I even thought of owning a trailer tent let alone a caravan, a friend who had sold his first caravan stated that the new one he was buying, although the same number of berths was half the weight , So I was wondering if since 2009 the newer ones have gone up or down in weight.

As a long term view, our 1983 Ace Globetrotter which was a mid-range 5-berth, was 650 kg net and 800 kg gross (net/gross being the old equivalent of MIRO/MTPLM)

2016 Conquer here , 560 model. We look at new vans but can’t really justify forking out 45k for something that isn’t going to be any better than what we have. Serviced every year, looked after and pampered within an inch of its life it gives us everything we need.

The Bailey S5 and 6 were well built caravans. My 2005 S5 Bordeaux gave 9 years good service and only exhibited a small amount of damp around the front left hand forward window seal. £250 repair bill before I sold it in 2014.

Bailey Series 6 Senator Wyoming 2009.
1435. MIRO
1678 MTPLM.

Two leaks
N/S awning rail joint failed. Fixed
Seal above front windows failed , repaired damage and resealed.

My earlier caravans were barely 12-16 feet, very lightweight , flimsy and next to no kit.
