I want to be able to use a 2nd battery when the 1st one dies on a non electric site. I would like to indentify a flushish socket to terminate the caravan supply feed in, placed in the 240volt compartment of the battery box. From there I would like to take a supply from the installed battery to the socket via a suitable plug. When the battery expires I can simply unplug the main battery and plug in a 2nd free standing 2nd battery.
The question is, does anyone know of a plug and socket avalable to accommadate the12 volt cable sizes running to the battery also the power mover cable of a simular size. Equally any better sugestions please.

Hi Wayne,

I have done something similar, where I recharge a spare battery in the boot of my car, and swap it with the caravan battery when needed. This does need a proper box to securing the battery in the boot, and ventilation. I have used the quick connect battery clamps, but as an alternative, and the leads were fused to prevent danger from accidental shorts. I take the charging current from a & pin plug that I bring throughthe soft seal of the boot lid and into the caravan socket on the tow bar.

However I have found some connectors that might do for your method. They are used in racing pit lanes where there is the added danger of sparks and fuel, so these should fit the bill. Not cheap but very effective.
