Hi William.
I am a big Hobby fan, as I don't think there are other vans on the market than comes close to the style layout and build quality for the money you pay, but the only draw back with the Hobby's is the weights.
I order a new Hobby excellent 460 ufe from a dealer in Scotland, but ended up having to cancel after a lot of bother with this dealer, ( you can read about on this forum if you go to, General, then page 2 and look for " what excuses dealer give you for not delivering on time " ) after all the carry on with this, I was put off of buying another new Hobby caravan, it was just as well that I did, as I discovered that van I had ordered, although one of the smaller one's was still to heavy for the car I have, as I passed my driving test in 1999, so I am limited to what I can tow.
I am like you what can replace the Hobby, Can I suggest you take look at the new 2007 Adria Adiva, I saw one at a dealer near me when I went to buy alternative van, It's very similar in side to the Hobby Excelsior, with the seating in the middle of this Adiva caravan. not at the end of the caravan as in the Excelsior.
The Adiva model looks stylish in side, but best of all is the weight I think the total mass running weight is 1500kg or 1600kg, as to 2000kg with the Hobby 650ufe, it's not the same as the Hobby but it's a good alternative, Please have a look at one as you will be impressed with it.
Robert.
