3.9kg propane bottles

any idea how to secure them in the front locker. Just bought a 2007 abbey vogue and the 2 securing straps are too high to make the bottles steady.

Hello Partridge,

Most gas bottle lockers have several ventilation holes in the floor. It is usually possible to pass a strap through the holes so that it can be also pas over the gas bottle and when buckled, to actually hold the bottle down to the floor.

You can get small 'cargo' straps from most motor spares shops, which are plenty strong enough, and often have a ratchet tensioning system to allow then to be easily adjusted for length and pull down force.

For a while I used 3.9kg cylinders in our Pageant and had exactly the same problem - I made up packing pieces out of 18mm MDF which fitted the moulded recess, it lifted the cylinder just enough to use the existing straps.

When I contacted the manufacturer, Bailey, they suggested lowering the Moulding which holds the strap but warned that the bulkhead may be hollow lower down, sure enough it was.

In the end I changed back to 6kg cylinders because the cost per kilo is much higher for 3.9s.
