With the 300tdi in the 110 Defender I just losen the fuel filters bleed screw and pump fuel to fill it,using the manual lever on the fuel lift pump [Right side of block].

Once fuel is flooding out of the bleeder, close it and then continue to manually pump for a couple of minutes to send any air on its way back to the tank, so purging the injection pump. Then start and idle the engine, this should finish the job without any miss firing.

I have been looking on the injecter pump, did not think to look at the lift pump.

ta for the info, will have a look and give it a go
