4 X 4 pre 2002 road tax

Hi there

Can anyone help regarding bits I have read about 4x4 vehicles pre 2002 not being charged the extortionate £400 or so emmisions tax? Does this mean that they can't check the emissions in the same way so they fall outside the ruling and it stays at £180 - 200 ish?

Hi Carole,

the cut off date for vehicle excise licence not based upn emmissions is 31 march 2001. Any vehicle registered after this date has its road tax based upon its emmissions. Paste the following link for prices/bands.
