Vision Plus Long Mast Pole - Swift Challenger 580 (2017)

Hi,
I have recently purchased a new to us Swift Challenger 580 (2017).
I think the people before upgraded the areal to have a long mast pole.
My issue now is that due to a shelf in the wardrobe (which is factory fitted). When the arial the areal is in its down position, there is about half a meter in the wardrobe before it hits the shelf but there is also about half a meter above the roof with the areal.

Is this still safe to tow with for saying that half of the mast down in the van?

I'm going to end up cutting a hole for the pole to come down further but wondered if anyone else has had this.

Thanks
Chris

I think your idea to cut a hole in the shelf will do the trick. Whilst it might be okay for towing it’s something that needs to be addressed soon, given its projection in winds potentially up to around 80+mph will place extra loads on the roof seals area.

As OC points out, with the high wind speeds we've had recently, particularly the gusting, I wonder whether the long pole option for the aerial is a good idea - as the longer pole will twist the roof mount much more than the short pole when deployed for use..
