Ive been toying with the idea of getting one these,they seem to be getting popular especially with the grey haired set.I use Norfolkline two or three a year and I see quite a few of them.my last trip to france a few weeks ago,I saw a couple of the american makes and a brtish one.Sadly they were leaving the sites as I was entering.So does anyone on the forum own one of these,and what do you think of them?

You probably dont remember,you have already advised me on this subject and I have visited and spoken to a relative of yours in Mildenhall,I first went there last year and again last week to get as much information as I can,I am so close to committing myself,and have already have a 5th wheel model in mind,I do like the way he gives out all the information and advice without any sales pressure.But I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually lived in one and has experience of touring with one.Thanks again Dianne.

hi 5th wheels ,, there is a company in scotland calder leisure that produce theese.. we live in spain and are thinking of geting one for full time living,, best get atleast 2slides,

I have seen what calder leisure have to offer,they seem expensive for the models shown and they also claim that there 5th wheelers are towable by uk spec pickup trucks,I spoke to a chap at dover ferry terminal with a Calder leisure 5th wheeler,he told me his nissan navara pickup was struggling with the weight.I have visited a company in Mildenhall suffolk which sell 5th wheelers plus american pickup trucks which are more than capable of pulling them with ease,try there website,http://www.crosscountryuk.net/

Allen, a fifth wheel owner who contributes to another forum has this info for you......... "calderleisure and niche-marketing.net both do 5th wheelers that can be towed by uk pickups although i would not recomend a nissan as a tow truck, the best ones are the toyota , isuzu and ford. I used to have a nissan and hated it, it was fine on the flat but dont show it a hill.
the 5th wheel company in wales also do a nice unit but only go for one of those if you are going to buy an american pickup, they are way overweight for a uk one and spoil what should be an enjoyable experience (one of the reasons you see quite a few of them on ebay)I have known a couple of people that have had to change their pickup for a yank one because of the weight/towing problem.
A proper weight/tow ratio outfit will use electro magnetic brakes not air brakes like the welsh company do, and the pin weight needs to be under the carry weight of the loadbed area, with a 5th wheel hitch capable of handling the overall weight."
